  1. I would like to target New Mexico Magazine (http://nmmagazine.com/), Outdoors magazine (http://www.outsideonline.com/) and Pittsburgh Magazine (http://www.pittsburghmagazine.com/). At least, these are what I want to try to go for right now. I looked on duotrope and really did not see anything that seemed to be what interests me. There is a lot for poetry on that site and I'm not a huge poetry writer. I looked into these three magazines and they seem to allow submissions from freelancers and/or the public. Pittsburgh magazine likes queries to be submitted but New Mexico Magazine will take submissions as well as Outdoors. I am keeping National Geographic in the back of my head right now because they allow photo submissions by the public. New Mexico Magazine has a photo contest deadline of October 22 which I am keeping in mind as well.

  2. The three magazines I would like to target are The Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com), Pittsburgh Fashion Magazine (http://www.pittsburghfashionmag.com), and Pittsburgh Magazine (http://www.pittsburghmagazine.com). Being that all three of my selections accept submissions, I believe these to be my best options.

    1. Philadelphia Style Magazine: This maybe a little bit of a reach magazine, but they very selectively publish some public submissions.
